To Guildford and Beyond: Why We’re Heading to the 2026 British Savate Championships
There is a specific kind of energy that takes over the gym when a competition is on the horizon. The rounds feel sharper, the footwork gets lighter, and the focus becomes absolute.
On April 25th, 2026, our club has a massive opportunity. We’ve been invited to the British Savate Assaut Championships at the Guildford Spectrum. This isn't just a chance to win medals; it’s a chance to put our club’s stamp on the UK Savate scene.
More Than Just a Tournament
This year’s event is unique. Hosted by Greig Bradbury, it’s a multi-style event featuring clubs from across the UK. For us, this means more than just fighting—it’s about exposure. We get to show practitioners of other martial arts the beauty, grace, and "fencing with the feet" that defines Savate.
Why You Should Step Up
As your coach, I see the work you put in every week. I see the technical improvements and the grit. Assaut is the perfect format for our team because it rewards what we do best: technique, speed, and control.
For the Competitors: This is where you find out who you are as a martial artist. There is no better way to grow than to test your skills against someone you don't train with every day.
For the Supporters: A team is only as strong as its corner. I want a sea of our club shirts in the stands. Seeing your teammates in the crowd is what pushes a fighter through that final minute of the third round.
The Roadmap to Guildford
We have until April 11th to finalize our roster. Because this event involves multiple styles, the organizers are being very strict with "head-counts" for wristbands. If you aren't on the list, you won't get through the door!
The Details:
Location: Guildford Spectrum Centre (GU1 1UP)
Time: 10am – 3pm
Cost: £20 for fighters / £15 for spectators
Registration: I need your name, age, and weight (for fighters) or just your name (for spectators/support) by the April 11th deadline.
Let’s Make it Count
Over the next few weeks, our training will shift focus. We’ll be working on point-scoring, ring craft, and the stamina needed to dominate the mats.
Whether you’re stepping into the ring or cheering from the sidelines, I want you there. Let’s show the UK what Formosa Kickboxing Academy (Bracknell Savate Club) is made of.
See you at training.
