Sundays at Formosa: Building Our Best Together!
Hey Formosa Family!
Sundays at Formosa Kickboxing Academy, also known as Bracknell Savate Club, are something special. We're a family-focused gym, and my aim is always to deliver the best possible training experience to every single one of you who walks through our doors.
We're incredibly proud to offer a unique blend of martial arts: kickboxing, Taekwondo, and Savate, along with our specialized nunchaku weapon training. All our equipment is fully insured, ensuring a safe environment for everyone to learn and grow.
Our Sunday General Training Structure
Right now, our Sunday General Training (4:30 PM - 5:30 PM) follows a rotating schedule to give everyone a taste of our diverse styles:
- First Sunday of the Month: Nunchaku
- Second Sunday of the Month: Savate
- Third Sunday of the Month: Kickboxing
- Fourth Sunday of the Month: Taekwondo
- Fifth Sunday (if applicable): Sparring Session!
This rotation allows us to cover all our disciplines throughout the month. I know many of you, and I too, would love to have these sessions weekly, and that's definitely a goal we're working towards!
Why This Structure (For Now!)
You might be wondering why we've set up the schedule this way. As a family gym, we operate with a limited budget, and honestly, predicting how many of you will make it to each session can be a bit of a challenge. Plus, with my own work shifts being unstable, this rotating schedule helps me manage everything to ensure I can be there to lead your training.
My priority is always quality over quantity. Even with these challenges, I'm dedicated to providing top-notch instruction in every class.
The Future: What I'm Aiming For!
Ideally, I'd love to expand our Sunday offerings. I envision adding a boxing fitness session from 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM before the general training. This would be a fantastic way to boost our cardio, improve our technique, and get an extra workout in. As my schedule stabilises, this is definitely something I'll be looking to implement.
The Importance of Progression: Competitions & Belt Exams
To truly see your progress and push yourselves, I highly encourage everyone to consider competitions and belt examinations. These aren't just about winning or getting a new belt; they're about setting goals, overcoming challenges, and seeing how far you've come. They're an excellent way to solidify your skills and measure your development within our diverse martial arts.
We're more than just a gym; we're a community. Your dedication and enthusiasm are what make Formosa Kickboxing Academy such a special place. Thank you for your understanding as we navigate these challenges and work towards an even better training experience for everyone.
